Purdue University, Purdue Global, and U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine conduct summit for collaboration and continued partnership

FAIRBORN, Ohio — Purdue University, Purdue Global, and the Air Force Research Laboratory’s U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) came together to discuss an academic-based partnership that supports the USAFSAM mission.

The primary objectives of the 2-day summit were to foster a deeper understanding of the academic models, training capabilities, and registrar functions employed by both USAFSAM and Purdue Global. This was accomplished through discussions with faculty and administrators, as well as through the exchange of insights and best practices in education and training.  This exchange aims to enrich academic possibilities for USAFSAM students and staff. 

Furthermore, this partnership aligns seamlessly with the broader objectives of the existing collaboration between Purdue University and the Air Force Research Laboratory, further bolstering the relationship between both organizations.

Reflecting on the significance of this partnership, dean of USAFSAM, Dr. Melanie Lazarus, remarked, "We were delighted to host our esteemed colleagues from Purdue University and Purdue Global. USAFSAM continues to seek ways to enhance learning, and summits like this provide the opportunity to collaborate for the benefit of USAFSAM’s students, both Airmen and Guardians alike”. 

Likewise, Dr. Andrea Gibson, the associate dean of operations at Purdue Global, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "This opportunity has provided invaluable insights into the multifaceted approach of USAFSAM towards education. We look forward to building upon this foundation and nurturing a thriving partnership to support academic goals."

Tours of USAFSAM facilities garnered firsthand exposure to state-of-the-art equipment and training protocols used by Air Force personnel. The tours not only showcased the advanced technological infrastructure but also underscored USAFSAM’s commitment to excellence in aerospace medicine and to supporting their graduates.

The discussions between the University and USAFSAM signifies a significant milestone in the journey towards fostering innovation and excellence in support of aerospace medicine education. As the institutions embark on this collaborative endeavor, they are poised to make enduring contributions toward developing USAFSAM staff and graduates.
